Adoption: Thousands of children forcibly taken into care

2 February 2015 Last updated at 10:31 GMT

Every year about 11,000 children are taken into local authority care without the consent of their parents.

Last year, more than 2,400 of them were forcibly adopted.

It is a controversial practice and one that is facing criticism not just in the UK, but from politicians in Europe where forced adoption is rare.

Rachel Royce reports.

BBC Inside Out is broadcast on BBC One South East on Monday, 2 February at 19:30 GMT and nationwide on the iPlayer for 30 days.

The BBC figures for forced adoptions appear to apply to England only. That being the case, the total state abductions for the fiscal year 2014 was in excess of 30,000 for England. Alarming is the rate of snatches of newly born infants at 180 for the year. That I call savagery

Per head of population, England has now overtaken Germany

Why you rely on the BBC to provde “official figures” beats me.

Dear Sabine, I wonder if we could press Simon Danczuk about the Hampstead Satanic child abuse case?

    • Please do! I have already written to him, asking whether he could guarantee my safe return and didn’t get a response. He had given me his card, when we met on the occasion of Fiona Woolf being before the Home Committee.
